Oooh, Something Shiny . . .

I have discovered something whilst distracting myself from Charlie Sheen's continuing implosion on my television (somebody please get that man some help).

In a semi-secret* place, there exist zillions and zillions of files that are part of the public domain. Nice, selfless people and Big Important Outfits like NASA have released these images, videos, animations, sounds and other exciting things to run wild on the internet.
(For instance, the cool thingy you see revolving above.)

I find this very interesting, to say the least.
To quote Dorothy Parker, "The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity."
-Dorothy Parker, US author, humorist, poet, & wit (1893 - 1967)

Here's Spongebob Squarepants.

It's hard to ignore this wealth of information and pretty things.

A breathtaking church choir in Brazil:

The possibilities are endless.

This is an excerpt from one of my favorite poems by William Butler Yeats. We traveled near his home years ago and discovered one of our favorite places, Mullaghmore in County Sligo.

It hangs on my living room wall:

I Am Of Ireland

'I am of Ireland,
And the Holy Land of Ireland,
And time runs on,' cried she.
'Come out of charity,
Come dance with me in Ireland.'

 I would love to, William.
(William needed a good hairstylist at this phase in his life.)

This is Mullaghmore Head, where Lord Louis Mountbatten had his castle and was assassinated in 1979 near the harbor.

I tried to get Jay to stop and get a room at the castle, but alas, it was not a hotel.

It is pouring rain here, and I may well be trapped without a canoe or four wheel drive or The Will to Go Out Into the Mud.

Yup, that's a close-up of mud, free to be used on the worldwide web. It is much more fun to sit here and explore this stuff than contemplate slogging through it.

My book manuscript lands back in my lap for revisions within the next week or so, and I may not have the time for these daily posts. There are some wonderful people who read Delta Delta Delta faithfully. I would miss joining you every single day for your first cup of coffee or afternoon internet jaunt.

Cutting back on my blogging would be hard, because I've just plain grown accustomed to throwing one of these out there each morning. This is a lot of fun. I hope to have time for it, especially since I've discovered DDD is now being read all over the U.S. and in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Denmark, Greece, Morocco, Germany and China.

That's amazing to me.

If you've enjoyed these pages, each one has a handy-dandy button at the bottom to email the post to a friend (it looks like an envelope with an arrow on it). I would love it if you'd share.

Thank you, Y'all.

* I am just kidding. There are no secrets on the internet. It's called 'Wikimedia Commons'.

Love from Delta.

  1. LOVE the Dorothy Parker quote...boredom is not a concept I have quite grasped, my issue is ADD curiosity pulling me in all directions! The problem comes when I get tied in knots while reaching (twister fashion) for any and all things of interest! Then I am immobilized...closest I know to boredom.

I will miss the daily glimpses into 3-D world of Beth Dukee (think the "ee" gives flow?)Very curious about book in process?? Please direct to any info on that!

Cheers to my facebook friend!! Marietta Poofeathers Loudon
